Cheapest and best value buns. Ideal for a penny saving alternative to chinatown outings.
in chinatown sightseeing and getting ready for the lunar year, i decided to stop by to check out them cute buns. as i was done taking a couple of pictures, i started looking at the description to see what kind of buns they were. you have one savory and the rest are sweets. decided to go with a sweet one, a matcha and red beans bun aka keroppi because you know, matcha = green tea = green = keroppi = frog. it makes sense.bun is incredibly cheap sitting at $1.75 and quite tasty! first time i went, the bun was dry and not so good but this time, the filling really comes through. its full of red beans paste with enough sweetness to make it moist enough. the matcha flavored dough doesn't really come through as its very faint.anyway, that keroppi was surprisingly delicious and now, i have my eyes set on hello kitty as she's filled with custard
I came here last year and I didn't like their food that much. For some reason, I decided to come back again and I feel like the food tastes better than before (they also raised the price). I didn't like their pastries but the Mos buns were pretty good.🐢
Service is quick and staff is friendly. Food is always really good and served warm. To go buns are well packed to make it easy to carry. Prices are good.
Located inside Chinatown Montreal.Small little shop that sells cute buns, pastries and bubble tea. They are probably most well known for their adorable cartoon buns. All their buns are fresh and hot right out of the oven when your order them. All the buns are adorable and the fillings are tasty. I love the hello kitty custard buns here! It's soft and delicious. Buns are relatively cheap around $2 each. I've also tried the melting custard bun. This was actually melting inside. But I prefer the regular custard one better.I bought a total of 9 bun at once one time and they stuffed them into the boxes. In one box they put 4 buns. All the buns ended squished and deformed looking. Be careful when you buy multiple buns. You should ask them to bag then separately instead. That might be better than boxing them.Overall, decent place. Nice presentation of buns. There is limited seating. The shop has only a few chairs. Can probably sit up to 5 people.
Nice fun and whimsical bao, but the woman behind the serving counter is rude, and terrible... even by Asian standards... and I’m Asian! Do yourself a favour and walk the extra minute alittle down the way to the other bakery!
You're better next door...When you enter, you go right to enter Bao Bao Dim Sum. Their buns are good and looks really interesting (Hello Kitty, porcupine, ...). But, the sweet ones are too sweet for my taste. Same thing for the Bubble Tea, it was too sweet for my taste and the bubbles were undercooked. Next time you enter, go left and you'll have better options at Pâtisserie Harmonie ;)
Great bubble tea and cute and tasty filled steam buns.
Very fast lunch option in Chinatown. Grab a bun or two, and that lunch! Try the non bun dishes they have as well, especially the BBQ pork sandwich.
This place has the best BBQ pork bun pastries ever! Everyone I've brought loves them so much and for 2 dollars, they're massive as well!
I asked for two strawberry mango smoothie, and received two with completly different flavours (and colour!!). When I kindly asked why the taste and the colour was different, and if I could get the same flavour for both, they refused by telling me both were done by different people and that it could explain the difference. But isn’t suppose to be the same ingredients????
I love this place. I make it a point every time I'm in Montreal, and are every Otakuthon to go here. They're always quick, have tons of stuff, super fresh and cheap! Also delicious ♡
We were at the bakery right beside here so we ran in to check it out. Great selection of foods which are yummy. Would recommend a stop here if your passing through Chinatown.
Love China town and the chance to experience something different that we don't quite have on the east coast in New Brunswick. Will definitely return and recommend!
My go-to place for a quick and cheap steamed pork (and whatever filling you're craving) bun. They're usually $1.50, but you can choose more expensive varieties. There are a lot more options for dim sum, drinks, and, baked goods, and sweets.
Tasty and colourful buns! Bad service.
The Taiwanese breakfast items are pretty good, the buns are ok, the fillings are fine—but the chicken cutlet, order that, it takes a while to be prepared and it's worth it, tender juicy and the spices are authentic.
Came here twice within a week. Randomly stumbled upon this place while trying to look for dim sum. One look at the cute baos and I knew I had to get one! The first time we came here we had got Hello Kitty, Keroppi, and a chick bao. All in all I would say the flavor of the filling was great and the bao bread was pretty good. My favorite would probably have to be the Hello Kitty one. They also travel very well. I definitely recommend steaming them again if you don't eat them the same day.
The buns were as tasty as they were cute and the rest of the food was phenomenal and it was so inexpensive! About $1.80 Canadian for a bun! They also had a separate side to the shop with plenty of other pastries and cakes that were awesome too!
Their stuffed buns are really cheap and delicious (2$ tax included for each)
Fast friendly and clean. Great experience.
Good service, imaginative desserts.
Loved the bun! The savory and the desert one! I didn't wright the one I had... I regret because I want more of them...
Those buns look nice but there could be more fillings inside. Nice place to take your travelling friends for some IG worth pics.
Bao was a disappointment. Dry piece of pork and flavourless all around. The bbq pork bun was good.
Good service, absolutely delicious pork buns and tasty drinks!
Small shop with limited seatings. Service was fast (I only bought buns). I was amused by the designs of their pastry buns. It was cute and colorful. They were hot when I received them which was exciting. After having a taste of these buns I was disappointed. The pastry was soft but was very tasteless and bland. It didn't taste like anything. The filling was too sweet, even to be eaten with bland bread. I couldn't finish a whole bun because of the level of sweet and blandness. It's fun to look at but I would not buy again.
Absolutely love this place. The prices are fantastic and the BaoBuns are so big and fluffy. Perfect for breakfast. <3
Had to wait 15 mins for spicy fish balls but we came in right as they opened, so that's understandable. Came here yesterday for late night snacks, buns were good.
First time to try their steamed bun and dim sum, we ordered vegetables bun, chives and shrimp and sui mei. We like the chives and shrimp bun so much. Personally like chives very much. It is flavourful and aromatics, but the fluffy bread is a little bit too much. The siu mei (steam pork dumplings) is different from restaurants where you have yumcha at. They are tasty. For a quick snack, I recommended and it is filling.
Check out this great bao shop in the heart of Chinatown.
I tried this place for both the dumplings and pastries and I wasn't disappointed. Both salty and sweet taste really good, and price is reasonable. It's mainly targeting people that take our the food, but there a bit of space to sit and enjoy the food on site. Next time I have to try the smoothies they serve there. Staff is friendly and they'll listen if you need to fix something in your order.
Favorite place in montreal. I get the curry beef bun and green tea bubble tea slushy!! Yummm
The snacks they sell is amazingly cheap and taste good. Their service can be worked on. There's one cashier who was rude enough to almost stop me from coming. But hey, 2$ snacks!
These savory buns are amazing. And only 2 bucks each! Such a treat. Soft, most bun on the outside, tasty morsels of your choosing on the inside. Yum!
Really good steamed pork buns; the filling was on the slightly sweet side, but great nonetheless. The buns with the curry filling were good as well. For $2.00 per bun, it's one of the best deals around.
I was really looking forward to going to this place especially since the reviews were really good but I was a little disappointed because out of the three different flavors that we tried they basically all tasted the same and there wasn't much variety. The bread to meat ratio was also way too much bread. But the pastries are very cute themselves.
Tasty, quick and price effective! Lots of variety too. Although they have a small window area with a couple bar stools to sit and eat, they don't give any plates to facilitate the meal... You may use your take out container, or in my case, my single pork bun in a small plastic wrap! Overall, it's good though!
I'm shook. Straight up. This place is amazing. Why don't we have this in Ottawa?! Less than $2 for a MASSIVE steamed pork bun. One is enough for dinner! I wish I had bought more and taken them home. 100% recommend this place. The taro bun and the matcha red bean bun was also so delicious. Please open a location in Ottawa!
Love this place! I always go once I'm in Montreal. The food is good and inexpensive. I would recommend buying one of the steamed buns ♥️ my favorite is the one with custard
Small place serving a wide variety of dim sum items. Space here is very limited and they even offer a couple of seats by the window. The dishes are fairly cheap and the portions are decently sized. There are many cute decorated buns which are all very tasty. I just wish they had put a little more filling in the buns
Quick 4$ fruit bubble tea
Great spot for a quick breakfast
It was really good! The price is OK, the only thing is that I got the wrong drink, bc the lady did not understand me, but it’s ok, both drinks ( the one she got wrong) were good! I will comeback!
They have the best tasting pork/shrimp dumpling (Siu Mai, 燒賣)) at a relatively cheap price.
Wanted to order the Crispy chicken (the product they advertise at the entrance) and the waiter just left. She came back 3 minutes later telling me that it would take 10-15 minutes, so I took a CHICKEN Mo's bun and a won ton soup for my friend. They gave me a BEEF Mo's bun and a old and mushy won tong soup with shrimps. My friend cannot eat shrimp so I came back to the counter and the waitress didn't want to pay us back, and told us with a rude attitude that we should've ask before. So basically we paid $5 for a soup that they throw in the garbage and got served like sh*t. Overall very lovely experience.
Best bao in the city! Go next door also for amazing tasty treats too!
omg, Im eating the whole shop. They have everything I love. For sure will take me few more trips to finish them all and Im liking the idea!!They also have HK local drinks snd snacks, as shown in the photo. Also the taste is hongkongese approved ^^
They serve my favorite braised pork from Taiwan and the butter buns from Hong-Kong.I will definitely come back to eat EVERYTHING!Though, note that there are just 5 counter seats. So it is mostly for a quick bite or takeout.
